A book is a gift that holds up. It doesn't need batteries, it fits in a stocking, and a signed one has a story attached. On Saturday, December 5, the 17th annual Super Holiday Boutique fills Pleasant Hill Community Center, and Dr. Bahram Ghadiri will be there signing Tiny Time Traveler books for your holiday list.

A Signed Book Is Hard to Beat as a Gift

Pick out a title, tell Bahram who it's for, and he'll sign it, personalized if you like. For a grandchild, a classroom, a teacher, or a friend's kid who is into dinosaurs and treasure maps, a book about real archaeology in ancient Iran is an unusual find.

Buying for a Persian-speaking family? Book 1 is also available in Persian.

Admission and parking are free, and the event is indoors. More than 100 vendors sell handmade and one-of-a-kind gifts, from jewelry and candles to toys, baked goods and home goods. Olaf and Frosty the Snowman are on hand for free photos with the kids. Every guest gets a free raffle ticket, and bringing canned food for the Monument Crisis Center earns another ticket per can. The first 250 families through the door get a holiday gift bag.

Register for a free family ticket and you'll get a $2 Holiday Buck at check-in, good for $2 off your first purchase (one per family).

About the Books

If your children have never met the archaeology of ancient Iran, this is an easy first introduction. The series follows a boy who travels back through real places and real objects: the world's first animation on a painted goblet from the Burnt City, an 8,000-year-old flute, the Bronze Age metalworkers of Shahdad, the oldest Venus figurine at Sarab. Seven books are out now, each one built on a genuine archaeological find.

New to the series? Begin with The First Animation of the Ancient World, Book 1, or browse the full collection. Book 1 is also available in Persian, a copy grandparents can read aloud.
